The Gallo-Roman thermal baths of Tours are public seaside resorts which, under the High Empire and for some until the end of the Roman Empire—none of them "survived" beyond—were in service in the ancient city of Caesardunum which later became Tours. While the existence of these thermal baths has long been the subject of broad consensus, their location has not begun to be more clearly established until the 1980s. Two monumental ensembles were partially cleared during excavations carried out between 1974 and 1979 for one, located to the north-east of the open city of the High Empire and which archaeologists call "therms of the East", between 1999 and 2002 for the other, located to the south and called "therms of the South".
