Olympia Theatre is the venue and headquarters of the National Drama Centre of Tours, led by Bérangère Vantusso since January 2024. Built in 2002, the theatre is built in the city's hypercentre, near the Old Towers, the shopping district and other cultural institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts, the Grand Theatre (hosting the symphonic orchestra and the Opera de Tours) or the Château de Tours.
Origins of the project: At its creation, the regional drama centre of towers is installed in the Louis Jouvet room. In the 1990s, it became too small, both in the dimensions of its scene and its gauge.
In order to increase the visibility of the cultural offer of the drama centre, the then director, Gilles Bouillon, agreed with the community of agglomeration -Tour(s)plus-, the region and the state to decide on the construction of a new hall then called Nouvel Olympia. Designed by LABFAC (Nicolas Michelin and Finn Geipel), the theatre was completed in 2002.
