The National Museum of Prehistory is a French establishment founded in 1918 by Denis Peyrony in the commune of Eyzies-de-Tayac (now Eyzies commune), Dordogne. Officially inaugurated on September 30, 1923, it is built in what was previously the castle of Tayac, bought for this purpose by the State in 1913. In 2004 a new museum was inaugurated, an architectural work by Jean-Pierre Buffi, integrated with the iconic Eyzies cliff.
