Notre-Dame-de-la-Miséricorde Chapel is a chapel of Wisigothic origin located in Nissan-lez-Enserune in the French department of Hérault in the Occitan region. The territory of the municipality houses another Visigothic chapel: the chapel Saint Christol.
Location: The chapel is located 1.5 km northeast of Nissan-lez-Enserune, isolated in the middle of fields and vineyards, 500 m east of the departmental road D162 that leads to Colombiers.
Toponymy: Nissan-lez-Enserune was mentioned as Aniscianum in 1198 in the cartular of Agde's episcopal chapter and as Anicianum in 1199.
Heritage status: The Notre-Dame-de-la-Miséricorde chapel, which is owned by the commune, has been the subject of an inscription as historical monuments since 28 December 1981.
History: The Notre-Dame-de-Miséricorde chapel is built on a place occupied during Antiquity by a Roman villa founded probably by a Roman colonist named Fulpius who gave his name to the Roman villa, which is found in the name Foulpian.
