porte d'Arroux
The Porte d'Arroux or Porte de Sens is one of the gateways to Augustodunum (Autun) in the French department of Saône-et-Loire. Built under the reign of Augustus as the whole of the city's enclosure, it commands the passage north towards Auxerre. With a defensive function, its configuration also allows the increase of duties on the goods that pass through it through the development of an airlock.
It is also conceived as a monumental work bearing witness to the city's prestige. Its ground floor and floor are partly preserved; These remains were classified as historical monuments in 1846.
