About

The Maison à la cour en U is a Gallo-Roman house of the archaeological site of Vieux-la-Romane, the ancient Aregenua, located about 10 km south of Caen, Normandy. Much less rich than the house with the grand peristyle of Vieux-la-Romane which is the most impressive private building recognized at the beginning of the 21st century on the site, however, the discovery is worthy of interest because significant of the diversity of society of a small Gallo-Roman city. After the discovery, the decision was made to highlight the remains in order to revive the attraction for the site as a local tourist hub. The project to develop the remains was also an opportunity to involve training bodies in the field of building and social integration.
