Saint-Gildard Church is a parish Catholic church located in Longesse, France. It was one of the many possessions of Saint-Germain-des-Prés Abbey under the Ancien Régime. Its construction dates back to the end of the 12th century, with regard to the choir and the cross of the transept, which are of Gothic style and of considerable dimensions for a small village.
The architecture of these spans is neat, and a refined sobriety. Saint-Gildard Church was designed to become one of the most prestigious churches in French Vexin. Only the building was never completed, and probably also deprived of the two transept crosses during the Hundred Years' War.
They were replaced by chapels in the flamboyant period and in the Renaissance, in the years 1520 / 1530 and from the middle of the sixteenth century. The bell tower dates from the same time, and is so simple that it appears as a temporary construction. The base of the bell tower occupies half of the only span of the nave that was built, or rebuilt.
