chapelle Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Aucamville
The chapel Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Aucamville is located in Aucamville, Tarn-et-Garonne, Occitanie region (France).
History: The chapel of Saint-Jean-Baptiste took its foundation on the former church of Saint-Jean de Marguestand, attested to in the 13th century, which was close to the fountain of Laparra. She was then known to cure the strongest fevers. The present chapel was built in the 18th century, and thus became a place of pilgrimage, where the feverish came to throw some pieces in the fountain of Laparra, before leaving without a look back. The chapel of Saint-Jean-Baptiste is listed as a historical monument by order of 14 December 1990.
Architecture: Lost in the middle of a large grove, the chapel Saint-Jean-Baptiste is a small religious building built in pise, with a cut bedside, without a bell tower. It is a moulded architecture, which takes over the model of construction of number of vernacular buildings using pure torchi technique, used until the beginning of the twentieth century.
