Roman theatre
théâtre antique des Andelys
The Gallo-Roman theatre of the Câteliers is an ancient performance building located away from the ancient town of Andeliacum, now Les Andelys, in the department of Eure, France. With a diameter of 120 m, it is one of the largest ancient theatres in the whole of Gaul, but only a few remains of walls and a silhouette remain in the landscape. Its design resembles a classical Roman theatre or a Gallo-Roman amphitheatre, a mixed-purpose building, games and shows. Probably built in the 1st or 2nd century AD, it has been classified as historical monuments since 1928.
