alignement du Camp de la Justice
The alignment of the Camp de la Justice, or Champ de la Justice, is a megalithic site located in Autun in the former commune of Saint-Pantaléon in the French department of Saône-et-Loire. The site has several menhirs but the existence of a megalithic alignment is not certain.
History: Since 1872, the site has been known to be a neolithic station with many cut flints and fossilized wood pieces. Around 1882, Jean Rigollot, looking for silicified wood, noticed blocks of stone outcropping the soil that did not correspond to local geology. Rigollot, believing that it was a communal land, had the blocks straightened with the support of the Saône-et-Loire General Council, which allocated him a grant of 300 francs for that purpose. The site then has about 30 blocks straightened up quite hastily. Mr. Parise, the real owner of the field, asked for his restoration in order to continue the crops there. Due to the archaeological interest of the site, it is then proposed to acquire it but in the face of its exorbitant claims no transaction can be concluded.
