chapelle Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Illins
The chapel Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Illins is a chapel located in the hamlet of Illins in the commune of Luzinay, in the department of Isère. The building, largely dating from the 11th and 13th centuries, has been listed as a historical monument since 2005.
History: The chapel Saint-Jean-Baptiste d'Illins dates back to medieval times. Its construction is estimated between the 11th century and the 13th century), although a building bearing this name seems to have been cited in an annals dating back to the 9th century. This religious edifice of Catholic rite was the former church of the parish of Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Illins, never erected in a commune. The nave of the chapel is the oldest part of the building, dating back to the 11th century and it was during the 13th century that it benefited from the construction of the double arch bearing a bell tower. The chapel then underwent new transformations in the 18th and 19th centuries with the addition to the south of a sacristy. The roofs were taken over in the 20th century. The Luzinay City Council, in its session of September 2, 2002, decided to take over the restoration of the building.
