About

The Icare Flight is a metal roller coaster route from Zierer, a Hornet model located in the French theme park Parc Asterix in Plailly, Oise. These roller coasters with a capacity of 1,150 people per hour occupy an area of 54 m x 35 m. Five trains can evolve along the route.

These, powered by tire lifts, are made up of two cars with two rows of two seats secured by Lap bar. The hull of the trains imitates the braided wicker and is lined with two wings. The name of the attraction refers to the myth of Icare that flew with wings composed of feathers and wax in Greek mythology.

Approaching too close to the sun, the wax melted and Icare sank into the sea. The queue — with its maze aspect, reference to myth — was built to resemble the palace of Knossos. At the end of 2016, part of the structure of the attraction was dismantled to refurbish the tracks for the 2017 season.
