mémorial national du Canada à Vimy
The Canadian National Memorial in Vimy is a monument on Vimy Ridge in the French department of Pas-de-Calais that honours the memory of Canadian soldiers who died in France during the First World War. On the memorial is engraved the name of each of the 11,285 soldiers who died here in the Battle of Vimy Ridge, a fifth of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. This site is managed by the Canadian Department of Veterans Affairs, since in 1922 France gave Canada the foundation of the memorial and about 100 hectares adjacent to it.
