monument aux morts de la division marocaine
The Monument to the Dead of the Moroccan Division, inaugurated in 1925, recalls the breakthrough made by the regiments of the Moroccan Division, commanded by General Georges Louis Humbert, during the Battle of Artois on May 9, 1915. It is located in the commune of Givenchy-en-Gohelle, in the department of Pas-de-Calais. During this breakthrough, the 2nd marching regiment of the 1st foreign regiment (Foreign Legion) and the 7th Algerian tirailers regiment were particularly prominent and were both cited to the order of the army.
