The former castle of the Counts of Champagne was a castle located in Troyes, France, which was transformed into a prison, a courthouse.
He had a right-of-way whose largest side was 96 meters. The large tower, which overlooked the rampart had a square base of 12 m, opposite was the door of the castle depicted in drawing and opened on the city.
Location: The castle was located in the commune of Troyes, in the current French department of the Dawn, close to the gate of Preize of the medieval enclosure of the city and the church of Saint John.
History: It was the main dwelling of Hugues, Count of Troyes. Count Henri le Large decided to build a new castle that moved the county seat. At the same time the count donated to the abbots of Montiéramey, St John's Church. It becomes an arsenal and remains a symbol of Comtal power. In this castle the execution of forty-nine Protestants, who were detained there, took place on the night of August 24-25, 1570 at the order of Pierre Bélin. He disappeared completely in 1860. The main trace visible today is the Rue de la Tour.
