cathédrale Notre-Dame de Grenoble
Notre Dame Cathedral in Grenoble is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Grenoble, Isère. Built from the 10th century, it is the seat of the bishopric of Grenoble. Slowly abandoned due to the unfinished restoration work of 1966, the building regained its place in the life of the diocese and civil society thanks to the unexpected discovery in 1989 of the remains of its first Baptistry dating back to the fourth century.
In an extremely dense urban setting, it has the peculiarity of having housing buildings attached to its structure as well as another church with which it communicates. The cathedral was listed as historical monuments in 1862. Then, by order of 12 June 2013, this protection is extended by an inscription concerning the surroundings of the cathedral: the remaining parts of the cloister and its courtyard, the garden of the cathedral and the former bishopric, the archaeological remains.
