Cularo (or Cularone, Latinised form) is the Gallic name for the city of Grenoble. His first official written reference dates back to June 6, 43 B.C., but many archaeological traces suggest that the site was inhabited long before, since it was installed on a road leading to Rome. Its inhabitants are part of the Allobrogese people whose city constitutes a border with the territories of the peoples of Vertamocores and Tricores. Following access to the status of civitas (city of Roman law, in Greek polished), Cularo changed its name in 381 and became Gratianopolis.
