The château d'Alba is a former castle dating back to the 11th century, which stands on the territory of the French commune of Alba-la-Romane in the department of Ardèche, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The building, which hosts exhibitions of contemporary art and concerts in the spring, summer and autumn, is listed as historical monuments.
Toponymy: The castle of Alba used to be called Aps Castle. Alba is originally a Gallic site under the name*Alb which means height or mountain. Under Roman rule, it is called Alba Helviorum in official Latin and Alpibus in vulgar Latin. It is the capital of the province of Helvie. In the Middle Ages, his name changed to Aps. It was from 1903 that she took the name Alba.
