About

The castle of Bonnes is located in the village of Bonnes, in the south of the Charente department, on the banks of the Dronne. It was built at the beginning of the Renaissance on the medieval castle of the seigneury of Bonne and redesigned in the seventeenth century, with one of its facades in classical style. It was largely destroyed during the Revolution.

The castle was partly listed as a historical monument on 10 April 1974 for the Renaissance wing and on 4 December 1995 for the two wings of the castle, excluding the part built in the 20th century. The building has been the subject of an important restoration programme since 2007.
