Pirmil Castle, also known as Pirmil Fortress, Tour de Pirmil and formerly known as Chastel Bouchart, is an ancient castle today disappeared built in Nantes (now Nantes South) in 1364 or 1365 by Admiral Nicolas Bouchart on behalf of Duke John IV. He defended the south end of the Pirmil bridge, one of the works of the only "bridge line" which, at the time, easily crossed the Loire between Nantes and the left bank of the river. This "bridge line" was the last crossing downstream of the Loire before its estuary.
