About

The château des Ducs de Savoie or château de Chambéry is a 11th-century castle in the French commune of Chambéry in the department of Savoie in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Modified several times since the 13th century, it has retained since that date an administrative vocation. From 1502 to 1578, the chapel of the castle housed the Saint-Suaire.

In its bell tower, there is currently a large carillon known as "Saint-François de Sales" composed of 70 bells, work of the foundry Paccard in Sévrier. A concert takes place on the first and third Saturdays of each month at 11 a.m. The castle now houses the services of the Savoie prefecture, the Savoie departmental council and the Savoie Academy.
