Gatehouse

The Châtelet, or Saint-Pierre Bridge, was a fortified bridge and one of the gates of the city of Caen, built in the thirteenth century and demolished in the middle of the eighteenth century. An element of the Caen fortifications, the fortified gate also served as a city hall.
