La Cinémathèque de Bretagne (Breton: Gwarez filmwhere) is a 1901 law association founded in 1986 in Ploërmel by Mathilde Valverde and André Colleu. Since 1995, its headquarters have been in Brest. Its mission is to collect, preserve, conserve and enhance the audiovisual and cinematographic heritage of historic Brittany, Breton and Breton.
A pioneer in amateur image collection, the Cinemathèque de Bretagne has become one of the most important regional funds in France. This original approach contributed to the recognition of the amateur image as an archive, an integral part of collective memory.
