The Consular, also known as Baba Merzoug (Arabic مدفع بابا مرزو This basil of 12 tons, 6.58 meters long 10 inches (27 cm) has a range of about 5 km; it had been protecting the port of Algiers since the 16th century. In 1830, after Algiers's expedition, he was reported to France as a war trophy.
