The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rennes (MBAR) is a French museum of art and archaeology located in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany). It was originally set up with the works seized during the revolutionary confiscations carried out in 1794 in the religious and civil buildings of the city of Rennes. He also owes much of his wealth to the cabinet of curiosities of the Marquis de Robien (1698-1756), the mortar president of the Parliament of Brittany, which had gathered there an important collection of works and objects of all ages.
With the collection of the Marquis de Livois in Angers, it was then one of the major provincial collections of ancient painting. The site is served by the Rennes metro line A at Republique station and by the line B at Saint-Germain station.
