About

The municipal garden of the Bishop's House, more specifically called the plural gardens of the Bishop's House (because of its various floors and aspects), is a public municipal garden of the city of Limoges (Haute-Vienne), located in the historical district of La Cité, overlooking Vienna and the green flow of the banks of Vienna. With a total area of about five hectares, the Évêché's gardens are the largest green space in the city centre of Limoges, joined by the cathedral of Saint-Étienne and especially the former bishopric of the city, now the municipal museum of Fine Arts. They are divided into a French-style garden, a typical public garden composed of ponds and hedges of trees, and a vast botanical garden, itself divided into three spaces: systematic garden, theme garden and regional natural garden. Owned by the city of Limoges since 1910, it is managed and maintained by the municipal department of green spaces.
