About

The Limoges Resistance Museum (official name since 2012, replacing the former name of the Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation Henri-Chadourne) is a municipal museum in the city of Limoges. Completely renovated between 2009 and 2012, an area of approximately 1,200 m2 has been added as part of a political will to renovate the city's museums, this space offers permanent collections dedicated to the history of the Resistance, the Occupation and the deportation in Limousin, during the Second World War, a temporary exhibition room, a teaching room and a documentation centre. It is located in the former convent of the Sisters of Providence, built from the seventeenth century, then in the eighteenth century, by Joseph Brousseau, in the district of La Cité, at the foot of Saint-Étienne Cathedral.
