The Musée des Beaux-Arts de Béziers, opened to the public in 1859, has the status of museum of France within the meaning of Act No. 2002-5 of 4 January 2002. By 2030, a museum of art and history should occupy the former Palace of Bishops which was liberated by the Palace of Justice.
