The New World Museum is a history museum located in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, located in the Fleuriau hotel since 1982. Consecrated to the relations between La Rochelle and the Americas then called "New World", it is the first museum to approach the slave past of a French port and to expose the elements related to slave trade and slavery in the colonies of the West Indies. Its collections, rich in nearly 2,200 works of art, are both the mirror of the New World explored by the old continent of Europe, and the reflection of a city enriched economically and culturally by the new continent. The establishment has been labeled "Musée de France" since 2002.
