The Bunker de La Rochelle () is a French museum located in the town of La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime.
Presentation: The Bunker de La Rochelle is a museum on World War II dealing with the occupation of the city of La Rochelle and its surroundings between 1939 and 1945. This museum has a rich collection of objects, as well as numerous photos, documents and videos. Once open occasionally, Le Bunker visits every day, without an appointment since 2013. This museum is an original former Bunker built during the 39-45 war to house U-Boote commanders whose submarines were stationed in the La Rochelle submarine base.
In 1847, the hotel was called Hotel des Etrangers. On June 1, 1899, the Hotel was purchased by Baptiste Menez. On 1 March 1924, René Menez succeeded him. As soon as it arrived in La Rochelle in 1940, the German army requisitioned the Hotel des étrangers located in the centre of the city, then reserved it at the Kriegsmarine in June 1941 to house the commanders and officers of the submarines.
