About

The octagon of Montmorillon is a 12th-century Romanesque Romanesque chapel in the city of Montmorillon (Vienna). It has a double elevation, being built on an ossuary. It is classified as historical monuments by the list of 1840 It was one of the monuments of the enclosure of the Maison-Dieu de Montmorillon founded around 1080-1085.

Finally, various sources mention – at the very place of the Octogone – a place already sacramentalized, under the Roman Gaul, or even at earlier periods. But, so far, no serious search has ever been carried out in these places that would infirmate or confirm these possibilities although many enthusiasts go there from their personal interpretations.
