Ouvrage Janus

About

The work of Janus is a fortification forming part of the Maginot line, located in the commune of Montgenèvre, in the Hautes-Alpes department. It is a large artillery structure built on the top of Mount Janus that dominates Briançon, high enough to cover most of the French fortifications defending the outlet of the Col de Montgenèvre. Maginot was dug under Fort Séré de Rivières of the same name, incorporating its battery.
