About

Cerza is a French zoological park located in Normandy, Calvados, in the commune of Hermival-les-Vaux, near Lisieux, in the commune of Hermival-les-Vaux. Created in 1986, it is the property of Thierry Jardin, one of its founders, who is also director of the park. It hosts various animal species on 80 hectares[source insufficient][desired secondary source]. Between 2004 and 2016, the park hosted an annual average of 293,494 visitors[ref. required].

Some rare births occur there, as was the case in January 2013, when for the first time in France an Indian rhinoceros was born. Since then, other births (including three lions in 2013 and 2015, two red pandas in 2013 and 2014, three lions in 2025) and a white rhinoceros in 2018 have enabled Cerza to ensure its role in protecting and breeding species. In 2018, the park hosts two polar bears in one of Europe's largest pens. In 2019, the park expanded by eight hectares with the establishment of a second African plain accessible via the Safari Train.
