Cantilever bridge
pont de l'île d'Oléron
The bridge of the island of Oléron or viaduct of Oléron, located in Charente-Maritime, is a bridge connecting, from the commune of Bourcefranc-le-Chapus, the continent to the island of Oléron, the latter being the largest French island on the Atlantic coast and the second island on the metropolitan coast after Corsica. Built by Campenon-Bernard, the building was inaugurated on 21 June 1966. With a length of 2,862 metres, it is the longest bridge in France until 1974, when the title was taken over by the bridge of Saint-Nazaire.
