Théâtre des Pénitents

The Théâtre des Penitents is the theatre of the city of Montbrison in the Loire, with a capacity of 230 seats. It has been labeled "Regional Scene" since 2009 (Rhône-Alpes then Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) and "Departmental Scene", and is part of the Fédéchanson network (d). The theatre is also used as a 300-seat concert hall.

It is built in the enclosure of the ancient chapel of the Penitents of the Confalon listed as historical monuments since 1946. The facade was designed by architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot. A renovation was carried out in 2003 Henri Dalem has been the director since January 2, 2017, replacing Dominique Camard.

Since 1 July 2023, Mohamed Naitl'Khadir has been the new director of the Penitent Theatre.
