Villa rustica
villa gallo-romaine de Lassalles
The Gallo-Roman villa of Lassalles is located at Lassalles in the French commune of Montmaurin (département of Haute-Garonne), in Comminges and the Occitanie region. It is one of the largest Gallo-Roman villas in the Aquitaine Gaul. Its dimensions and luxury illustrate the exceptional economic prosperity experienced by the southwest of Gaul between the fourth and sixth centuries.
The farm was established during the Pax Romana in the first century. Its land covered an area of more than a thousand hectares. From the fourth century, the master's residence was transformed into a palace extending over 5,800 square metres.
The villa was inhabited until the end of the fifth century or the beginning of the sixth century.
