Église Notre-Dame de Prévenchère

History: The first quotation of Notre-Dame-de-Prévanche dates from a bubble of Pope Alexander III. The church became parish in 1265 was dependent on the abbot of Saint-Chaffre. During the religious wars, the church was partly destroyed by the Huguenots of Sire de la Tronchère during his raid on Mazan Abbey and Porcheyrolles Fort (August 1584). Restoration and expansion work continued from 1584 to 1600. Several priors will succeed each other until the Revolution and beyond because the church was closed to worship only in 1885. Demolition began in 1925 for the construction of the church of Montpezat-sous-Bauzon, a few hundred meters upstream, allowed dozens of prior burials to be discovered.
