Church building
église Saint-Pierre de Mornac
The Saint-Pierre church is a Romanesque church located in Mornac-sur-Seudre, in the French department of Charente-Maritime and the diocese of La Rochelle and Saintes. This characteristic bell tower building is part of an urban fabric largely inherited from the Middle Ages. The square of the transept is occupied by a curious barlong dome, an extremely rare plan in Saintonge. Merovingian sarcophagi, discovered during excavations on the outskirts of the church, are exposed near the bedside and the north wall.
