église Sainte-Cécile de Cos
The Sainte-Cécile de Cos church () is a Romanesque church built between the 9th and 11th centuries in Tech, in the French department of the Pyrénées-Orientales. It is located in the French department of the Pyrénées-Orientales. A small, disused rural chapel of a dozen metres long, Sainte-Cécile de Cos is built on a simple plane: a rectangular nave extended east of a flat bedside, all illuminated by a few narrow windows with simple brazing.
With no furniture, its ruins were restored in the 20th century. The history of Sainte-Cécile begins in the ninth century under the name of Saint Mary, when it is a possession of the Abbey of Sainte-Marie d'Arles-sur-Tech. The territory of Cos developing, it was enlarged, embellished, and became a parish church in 1159.
This status was lost around 1600 and the chapel was gradually abandoned. It was looted during the war of the Roussillon (late 18th century). While it is decommissioned and falling into ruins, its walls are raised and a concrete vault is raised to protect it in the 1990s.
