The Church of Sainte-Madeleine is a parish Catholic church located in Trie-Château, a commune in the French Vexin department of Oise and the Hauts-de-France region. Organized in length, it consists of a late Romanesque narthex of the 1160s, a unique Romanesque nave around 1100 and a Gothic choir of two spans of a hundred years later. The narthex, with its exuberantly decorated facade, and its ancient north side portal also richly decorated, is one of the most extravagant Romanesque works in Vexin.
It is often compared to the north crusillon of the church of Saint-Étienne de Beauvais. However, only the ground floor is authentic, except for some damaged elements that were almost identical during the restoration of the years 1860/67. The upper parts are a neo-Roman creation designed by architect Aymar Verdier.
Inside, the narthex has been redesigned, or has never been completed, because it is not vaulted, and doubts are allowed that this has ever been the case. It is thus integrated into the nave, but nevertheless seduces by the interior decoration of the windows which is almost analogous to the...
