Église de l'Emm

The church of the Emm is both the parish church of Metzeral-Sondernach (Saint-Blaise), the place of a secular pilgrimage dedicated to the Virgin (under two terms: Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs and Notre-Dame-des-Neiges) and a memorial dedicated to the soldiers of the Great War who fell in Alsace and in the Vosges. The name of Emm comes from the name of the hill on which the sanctuary is marked, evoking the legend of Emma and Roland of Roncevaux.
