église Saint-Guen de Vannes
The Saint-Guen church in Vannes is a Roman Catholic church in Vannes, Morbihan.
Situation: The church is located in the Place du Colonel-Le-Ménach, in the Menimur district.
History: The neighbourhood of Ménimur was in full development in the early 1960s. The chapel, which then served as a place of worship for the inhabitants, quickly became too small and old. Berchmans The Pipe, the first rector of the parish created in 1964, has the mission of providing its flocks with a decent place of worship. Construction of the church began on 25 March 1966 on the site of the former Priory Saint-Guen. Architects Jacques-Henri Maisonneuve and Erich Kasper are responsible for the plans with the support of Eva Niebudek and Zygmunt Knyszewski; Robert Loudin takes over the engineering of the project. It was delivered in late 1967 and was one of the first to comply with the requirements of Vatican II. The first Mass took place on 10 December 1967. She was awarded the "Heritage of the 20th Century" label on November 23, 2006.
Presentation: The building is constructed of regional materials: the frame is made of laminated wood, granite walls, slate roof. Its shape is pyramidal...
