About

Saint-Pierre de Vannes Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral in Vannes, Morbihan department, France. The seat of the diocese of Vannes, it also bears the title of minor basilica. It is one of the seven cathedral stages of Tro Breiz.

In Gothic style, it is raised on the site of the former Romanesque cathedral. Its construction spans five centuries, from the 15th to the 19th century, and if one includes the existence of the preserved Romanesque clocher tower of the old building, one reaches a construction duration of seven centuries. In its entirety, the building remains, however, faithful to the ancient Romanesque and includes a nave accompanied by ten lateral chapels, a transept with unequal arms, a choir wrapped in a walk-in and enfilade an axial chapel.
