musée des Blindés de Saumur
The Musée des Blindés de Saumur or Musée des Armoured Général-Estienne is a museum of armoured vehicles located in Saumur. Inaugurated in 1977 in the former hangars of the Beaufort fence, the museum moved in 1996 to No. 1043 of the Fontevraud road, in premises bought from SEITA and renovated by the Ministry of Defence.
It occupies an area of 22 000 m2 to group the collections then scattered in Fontevraud, Bourges and Le Mans. The museum hosts an average of 80,000 visitors per year. The museum was renamed "Musée des armoured Général-Estienne", in tribute to General Jean-Baptiste Eugène Estienne, the creator of the French armored weapon.
