château de Beaujardin
History: The former fortified house was owned by the Leroux family in the 18th century, which had a chapel built for the mansion in 1745, blessed by Bishop Louis-Jacques Chapt de Rastignac. The castle was rebuilt in the mid-19th century by architect Philippe Chateignier on behalf of General Viala Charon, Governor General of Algeria. He subsequently belonged to M. Bergerat in 1862, to Viscount Joseph Cornely von Heemstra in 1878, who created an acclimatization garden and zoo in the park. At the end of the 19th century, it was acquired by the Goüin family. It is then the place of activity of the patronage, processions of the Feast of God and of the kermesses of the parish of the Sacred Heart, on which depends the domain of Beaujardin. He passed to the town of Tours in 1925. The castle was destroyed by the bombings of 1944. Only part of the garden remains, which is now the heart of the Beaujardin district.
