About

The Alsatian Museum of the City of Strasbourg is a museum of popular arts and traditions, presenting the testimonies of Alsatian traditional life from the 18th to the 20th century. Habitat elements, furniture, everyday objects, ceramics, costumes, religious objects, toys, handicrafts are presented for some in interior reconstitutions and artisan workshops. The Alsatian Museum has been a repository since the beginning of an important collection entrusted by the Society of the History of the Israelites of Alsace and Lorraine, today the Société d'Etude du Judaïsme d'Alsace-Lorraine allowing to present, in association with the collections owned by the museum, the cultural heritage of the Jews of Alsace.

Developing more than 1,600 m2 of exhibition halls, it occupies, near the Place du Corbeau, three adjoining buildings located on the edge of the Ill at Nos 23, 24 and 25 of the quai Saint-Nicolas, partially listed with historical monuments. The Alsatian Museum closed for work on July 7, 2025. Its reopening is scheduled for 2027.
