The dread of Roche-la-Croix, then called the work of Roche-la-Croix, is a fortification forming part of the Séré de Rivières system and then of the Maginot line, located in the commune of Val d'Oronaye, in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. It is a large artillery structure, built on and under an earlier fortification, the dread of Roche-la-Croix (also known as the "lower fort of Roche-la-Croix"), built from 1883 to 1892 as part of the Séré de Rivières system; A second battery is higher, called the "top fort of Roche-la-Croix".
