About

Boutae is the Latin name of a vicus - secondary agglomeration, a village - of the city (civitas) of Vienna, then of Geneva (land of the Allobroges), registered with the Voltinia tribe, which preceded the city of Annecy (Haute Savoie). According to Pierre Broise, specialist of Boutae, this name would come from Boutus, Celtic character, known in Latin epigraphy.
