théâtre antique d'Arles
The ancient theatre of Arles was built at the end of the first century BC, under the reign of Emperor Augustus, just after the founding of the Roman colony. Started around 40/30 B.C., it was completed around 12 B.C. thus becoming one of the first stone theatres in the Roman world.
The theatre is part of the decumanus of the Roman grid. The ancient theatre of Arles is classified as historical monuments by the list of 1840.
