Roman colony
Narbo Martius is a Roman town founded at the end of the second century BC, becoming the city of Narbonne. The first capital of Gauls before Lugdunum, it is built on a commercial crossroads towards Hispania, Aquitaine, Gaul, Rome and the Mediterranean via Domitia, Aude, Garonne and the ancient ports of Narbonne. It is of a gratifying aspect, especially by the dimensions of its Capitol without equivalent in Gaul, demonstrating the power of the colonists. The city bears the title of "Daughter of Rome".
